What Is Star Atlas (ATLAS)?
Star Atlas is a play-to-earn space exploration role-playing game (RPG) in a virtual gaming metaverse on the Solana blockchain. It merges blockchain mechanics, such as real-time smart contract execution of gaming scenarios, and core game mechanics like Unreal Engine 5 for a cinematic quality that builds a realistic sense of time travel to the year 2620.
Powered by two blockchain-based in-game currencies, ATLAS and POLIS, this VR-enabled game incentivizes combat using high-tech weaponry and top-notch spacecraft. ATLAS is its payment token and POLIS is its governance token.
Star Atlas leverages Solana’s speed, scalability and low transaction costs to offer players an advanced gaming experience. Additionally, the game’s economy revolves around Serum, a DEX protocol built on Solana.

Following its listing in early September 2021, Star Atlas experienced a 48-hour price pump from $0.08 to $0.233. In the days that followed ATLAS’s price gradually declined, despite the launch of its next-gen NFTs on September 7, 2021.
At the start of the slight bull run in late 2021, ATLAS experienced some upward price movement. By the end of October, ATLAS broke the $0.10 resistance level and continued pumping, with occasional price corrections for most of November.
However, from December 2021 onward, ATLAS began a decline which has continued for most of 2022. Since May, the token’s price has stagnated in the range of $0.004 to $0.008.
What Is ATLAS Used For?
In the dual token system of the Star Atlas metaverse game, ATLAS plays a crucial role as a medium for the transfer of value, both in-game and across the larger crypto market. As a project, Star Atlas has structured its game economics in a way that ensures sustainable utility for ATLAS tokens.
ATLAS are first required to purchase digital assets in the game, such as land, spaceships and equipment. The operational usage of ATLAS is split across several in-game functions: Mining, combat, technology crafting, production and exploration. These are charged either as transaction fees or in the form of taxes.
ATLAS tokens are also used to facilitate the exchange of in-game digital assets and NFTs on the Star Atlas NFT Marketplace.

Star Atlas has a robust tokenomics structure that involves a strategic interplay of ATLAS and POLIS tokens for all of its operations. The total and max supply of ATLAS is 36 billion tokens. ATLAS is inflatable, and its monetary mass is designed to grow at approximately the same rate as the in-game economy.
