If you've fallen victim to cyber theft and the stolen funds were transferred to Bybit, you can report the case and request assistance from our Security team in recovering your assets.
Here are the simple steps to report your stolen funds.
Step 1: Access the Report Stolen Funds page using any of the methods below:
a. From Bybit Help Center
Go to the Help Center and click the right arrow in the Self Service section to find Report Stolen Funds.
b. From the self-service portal
Click the Customer Support icon in the bottom-right corner, then scroll down to the Self-Service section and select Report Stolen Funds.
c. From the Bybit Authenticity Check page
Visit the Bybit Authenticity Check page and click Submit in the Report Stolen Funds section.
Step 2: Confirm your details on the Report Stolen Funds page.
— If you already have a police report: Submit the required materials via this form.
— If you do not have a police report: Non-VIP users must file a police report and obtain a freezing order before continuing. VIP users may proceed directly to Step 3.
Step 3 (VIP only): Provide full details about the compromised assets, including the stolen asset information (type and amount), the hacker's address (if available), a clear description of how the theft occurred, and your up-to-date contact information.
Step 4: After submitting all the necessary details, please allow up to 12 hours for our response.
Notes:
— A freezing order is an official instruction from law enforcement requiring a centralized exchange to restrict certain accounts or funds. For cases without a freezing order, the discretionary handling process is currently limited to verified Bybit VIP users. We may extend this service to all users in the future.
— Freeze requests can only be submitted if the stolen funds were transferred to Bybit.
— Bybit will review any information and supporting evidence you submit regarding alleged stolen funds solely as a courtesy and without obligation. Bybit has sole and absolute discretion to determine whether the submitted evidence is sufficient to justify any action and may decline to act without explanation. Bybit may, at its sole discretion, place a temporary internal restriction on the relevant account as a precautionary measure if it considers the evidence credible and action appropriate.
— Bybit is under no obligation to impose, maintain or explain any temporary restriction and may decline or revoke such measures at any time without notice. Any temporary hold or restriction is a precautionary measure that does not constitute a legal freezing order or create any obligation to maintain the hold for any specific period. You remain solely responsible for reporting the incident to the appropriate law enforcement agency and for obtaining an official court or law enforcement freezing order if you seek a legally enforceable freeze or recovery.
— Bybit will cooperate with law enforcement requests from competent authorities in providing information and support as required by applicable law. However, recovery of funds cannot be guaranteed, and Bybit makes no representation that any investigation or temporary restriction will result in the return of funds.
— Bybit accepts no responsibility for any loss incurred in connection with or arising from the alleged stolen funds, whether or not such funds are alleged to have transited through the Bybit platform.
— Any review, investigation, response or action taken by Bybit in relation to any information you provide regarding the incident shall not constitute an admission of the merits of your claim or any alleged tracing of funds to Bybit, nor does it create any legal duty to you or any third party, and is subject to Bybit's Terms of Service and applicable law.
— All communications and evidence sharing will occur directly between Bybit and the relevant law enforcement agency. For confidentiality and security reasons, Bybit and its Customer Support team cannot share details of such communications with you; you must contact the law enforcement agency directly for updates. Bybit reserves the right to set out its position on your claim as it deems fit, including requesting additional information or declining to act as it deems appropriate, without prejudice to any of its rights or defenses under applicable law.
